We are science communicators, qualified ecologists . . . and sisters!
We share a passion for translating complex ideas into meaningful messages, and we’re skilled at getting the most out of research by making it accessible and engaging.
We both began our careers as researchers and chose to help create greater impact through science communication. Between us we have authored or co-authored:
- 10 scientific papers
- 13 mainstream media articles
- one book
- numerous reports, newsletter articles, research summaries
- piles of social media content
- and much, much more!
We have extensive experience working with universities, Crown Research Institutes/Public Research Organisations, iwi/hapū, community groups and industry.
So no matter who your audience is, we can help!

Stacey Bryan-Sneddon, MSc (Wildlife Management), PGDip Journalism
It took me two years as an ecologist to figure out I have more fun behind a camera than a microscope! Since then, I have spent the best part of a decade working with incredible researchers from around Aotearoa, in both Western science and mātauranga Māori.
I specialise in being able to bridge just about anything – be it a big dream and actionable steps; complex ideas and short attention spans; or people from opposite sides of the table. I love exploring new territory and tailoring comms to each unique project.
Based in Darfield, Waitaha Canterbury.

Catherine Kirby, MSc (Ecology)
I specialise in making things make sense! As a science communicator, I work between researchers and businesses, government and communities (of all kinds) to facilitate high quality, multi-directional knowledge sharing. I can help build relationships, share research findings, gather end-user input and create collaborative solutions.
I have 15 years experience working with multi-disciplinary teams and have a knack for helping people get on the same page. I began my career in ecology research and gradually moved to research management, consulting and then communication. This breadth of experience helps me understand where you’re coming from and design solutions to meet your needs.
I am an executive committee member of the Science Communicators Association of New Zealand and am based in Kirikiriroa Hamilton with my small whānau and fur baby.
